The house, known as the Grove to all of the locals, was built and finished in 1854. There have been 3 families that have resided in this house until it was purchased in December of 2013 with the intent to turn it into a B & B. The new name, Early Inn, refers to Jubal Early, a confederate general who had his law office here on the property at one time. He was raised not far from here. The original owner, John Stafford Hale, was at one time married to Jubal’s sister. The house is a Greek Revival Style house. It rests on 10 plus acres full of beautiful trees(ancient oaks), some of which were planted by the second owner in 1900.

The house is made from brick made on site. The front of the house is brick facade and the brick walkway leads out from the house down towards the town. The town of Rocky Mount, VA is a small town that is on the verge of great growth. A new music venue, The Harvester, has opened up recently as has a new restaurant, Bootleggers, across the street.

We hope to be a historical destination, where one can come and enjoy the wonderful things that this small quaint town has to offer. They will be staying in a recently renovated house, where there are 5 uniquely decorated bedrooms. All offer many comforts that you would expect in a fine hotel. From the bedding, to the decor, we offer the finest. The Early Inn will be a destination that one will want to come back to again and again!
