Our bed and breakfast is in a beautiful, historic Greek Revival style manor located in the charming small town of Rocky Mount, Virginia. The home was originally known as The Grove due to the many magnificent trees on the property. Built in 1854 by John Stafford Hale for his second wife Margaret Ingles Saunders Hale, the land was provided by the Saunders family.
We are situated right in town within convenient walking distance to many local attractions, yet, with the beautiful scenic property surrounding the inn, you will enjoy the peaceful relaxation of the country setting. Directly across the street you can get a great meal at The Bootlegger Cafe which is located in a renovated Coca-Cola bottling plant with the original signs freshly restored.
Keri has recently left the teaching world to follow her dream of running a bed and breakfast and is excited about this next phase of her life!
Throughout the years, she has opened her house to many, from family to friends, to newly made friends, and is quite happy entertaining and taking care of everyone.
James and I enjoyed our weekend here at the Early Inn. It was so relaxing and we enjoyed every minute! Our needs were all met. Keri, you are the best. Could not have asked for a nicer time! Love, Linda and James Riddle
We really felt at home in your beautiful Inn. What a memorable way to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary by staying here! Magnificent home and grounds. We loved our stay. Thank you for the warm hospitality!
The Inn is beautifully renovated, keeping its integrity and originality but adding convenience of modern day living. It is tastefully decorated with luxurious bedrooms and bathrooms. (Landscaping, vegetable and herb garden will be added this year). Breakfast was sumptuous. Our adult children were very impressed with our accommodation.
Although we added an hour to our trip by veering off to Rocky Mount Virginia instead if Rocky Mount, NC, we were all happy to spend the night at this beautiful inn. My husband and I plan to return in the Fall for the town’s craft show and music at the concert hall.
Impeccable Inn. Very great experience. The nicest Inn we have ever stayed in. Highly recommend it.
If you are looking to step back in time while still enjoying today’s modern amenities, then the Early Inn at the Grove is the place for you. Nestled in the heart of Downtown Rocky Mount, Virginia, this pre-civil war home is magnificent with its original paned glass windows, beautiful crown molding, high ceilings and overall grand style architecture. We stayed in the Magnolia Room with its cornet windows and elegant decorations. The private bathroom was extremely large with a soaking tub and a double shower. Keri is a most pleasant and welcoming innkeeper. We look forward to visiting there again.
The inn was so inviting, beautiful and unique. The Kirsch family is very impressed and appreciative and we found the innkeeper warm and charming.
We say thank you for making us all feel special and welcome!
On a recent visit to Rocky Mount and the Early Inn, we were taken aback with the hospitality of Keri and the people of Rocky Mount. The atmosphere at the Early Inn was warm, welcoming, and relaxing. The grounds are peaceful. The place has real historical character. The rooms were well furnished and comfortable. We highly recommend the Early Inn, and have put it on our list of places to return to.
